Instagram banned your account. Here's how the appeal actually works.
Most appeals fail for the same reason: they argue about fairness. The reviewer is not deciding whether the rule is fair — they are deciding whether the rule was applied to the right person. Those need completely different letters.
Meta gives 180 days before the account is permanently deleted, but that is a deletion deadline, not a recovery window. Odds are highest in the first 30 days and fall steadily after that, because reviewers default to upholding the earlier decision unless you give them something new.

What were you actioned for?
Each of these needs a different argument. Pick the one that matches the notice you got:
- Instagram banned by mistake You are not arguing that the rule is unfair — you are arguing the automated system matched you to behavior that is not yours.
- Instagram banned after being hacked The violation probably did happen — but not by you.
- Instagram flagged as under the age limit This is the most reversible category, because it turns on one verifiable fact.
- Instagram flagged as spam or bot activity Automated systems flag rate, not intent.
- Instagram flagged for impersonation Either you are the person and can prove it, or the account never claimed to be them.
- Instagram a post removed and the account actioned Name the exact guideline cited and explain why the post falls outside it — context, satire, news value, or the fact that the flagged element was not what the reviewer thought.
- Instagram flagged for having multiple accounts Shared devices, shared networks and household members all produce this flag.
- Instagram flagged for VPN or unusual location The system saw an impossible-looking location change.
What this will not do
- We do not contact Instagram for you. You submit the appeal yourself, through their official channel.
- Whether the account comes back is Instagram's decision, not ours. Nobody can promise that.
- If the action was for child safety, terrorism, CSAM, an appeal will not succeed and we will not write you one.
Appeals that name the exact Community Guideline cited and explain why it does not apply are overturned at roughly four times the rate of emotional appeals.
