Based on 100 of the most recent public App Store reviews, sampled September 2026.

Step 1 — Stop the next charge

  1. On iPhone or iPad: Settings → tap your name → Subscriptions.
  2. Select Coursera: Grow your careerCancel Subscription.
  3. Check that it now says Expires and not Renews. If it still says Renews, it is not canceled.

Deleting the app does not cancel the subscription. This is the single most common reason people keep getting charged.

Step 2 — Ask Apple for the charge back

Answer these and you'll get the exact wording to paste into Apple's form. Nothing is sent anywhere — it's generated in your browser.

A detail only you could write makes the request read as yours rather than a form letter.

Recent 1–2★ reviews of Coursera: Grow your career on the App Store, about billing:

They will rip you off and now refund you even if you forgot and didn’t use their service. They do not refund you even if you were in the hospital. This service ripped me off and it’s sinister and wrong. Do not subscribe.

I have been trying to cancel my Coursera subscription for the past six months as I do not use it that often. Each time I try to contact the help center on their website or app I am directed to a chat bot who never can adequately answer my questions or point me in the direction of who I can speak with that can help or give me any resources as to how I can solve my issue….. I have continuously been charged $49 a month …

I purchased Coursera Plus through the App Store on August 18. The payment was processed and the subscription appears as active in my Apple account, but Coursera never activated it. I contacted Coursera several times and received neither a response nor a solution. My refund request was also denied. I paid for a service I still cannot use. Extremely disappointing customer support.

Questions

Can I get a refund after I already canceled Coursera: Grow your career?

Yes. Canceling stops future renewals but does not refund a charge that already went through. You request that separately at reportaproblem.apple.com, and "I was charged after I canceled the subscription" is the reason to select.

How long do I have to ask for a refund?

Apple generally expects refund requests within 90 days of the charge. Ask as soon as you notice it — requests on recent charges are approved more often.

Apple declined my request. Is that the end?

No. A first decline is common and is often automated. You can submit the request again with more specific facts and ask for review by a senior advisor. If it is declined again, you can dispute the charge with your card issuer.

Will I lose access to Coursera: Grow your career if I cancel?

You keep access until the end of the period you already paid for. Canceling only stops the next renewal.
