How to cancel Anova Culinary and get your money back

Anova Culinary is a Food & Drink app by Anova Culinary LLC. Canceling and getting refunded are two separate things — most people do the first and assume the second happens automatically. It doesn't.

What goes wrong with Anova Culinary billing

We read the 130 recent 1–2★ reviews of Anova Culinary that mention money. These are the specific problems they describe (one review can describe more than one):

What this means for you: The most common complaint is paying and still finding the core features locked. Choose "The app doesn't work as advertised" and describe exactly what was promised before you paid and what stayed locked afterwards.

Step 1 — Stop the next charge

  1. On iPhone or iPad open Settings and tap your name at the very top.
  2. Tap Subscriptions, then Anova Culinary.
  3. Tap Cancel Subscription and confirm.

Deleting the app does not cancel the subscription. This is the single most common reason people keep getting charged.

Settings Your name, at the top Subscriptions Anova Culinary Cancel Subscription

Then check it actually worked

Look at the date line under the subscription. This one word tells you whether you are still being charged:

Renews 12 Oct 2026 Still charging you Expires 12 Oct 2026 Canceled correctly

If it still says Renews, the cancellation did not go through — go back and do it again. Either way, a charge that already happened is refunded separately, in Step 2.

Step 2 — Ask Apple for the charge back

Answer these and you'll get the exact wording to paste into Apple's form. Nothing is sent anywhere — it's generated in your browser.

Free — the refund request to send Apple. No account, no email required.

$5.99 one time — the appeal letter for when Apple declines your first request, plus the chargeback letter for your card issuer if Apple still says no. Emailed to you. Not a subscription. Nothing renews. Full refund on request — see Refund Policy.

A detail only you could write makes the request read as yours rather than a form letter.

Since when did you bloodsuckers at Anova start charging users for a subscription? I used this app on and off, just recently re-downloaded the app and I see a prompt asking me to join their "subscription" service lol. Give me a break man, who TF do you idiots think you are? You guy's are really going to nickel and dime users see we can see "user shared" recipes and photos? I literally use this to check my Anova Temp w…

I’ve had my Anova sous vide cooker with app connectivity for 4 years. I’ve never had to pay a subscription. I bought the device knowing it had connectivity and now they want to charge me a monthly fee for something that I already had when I bought it. That’s called theft. I don’t really care about your recipes. I just want to be able to control it from my phone and you took that feature away. Shameful business …

All push notifications are locked behind their a subscription, which is all I really care about. It’s way too expensive for just that function and it wasn’t clear until after I bought the sous vide and paired it. I never would have bothered had I known.

Questions

Can I get a refund after I already canceled Anova Culinary?

Yes. Canceling stops future renewals but does not refund a charge that already went through. You request that separately at reportaproblem.apple.com, and "I was charged after I canceled the subscription" is the reason to select.

How long do I have to ask for a refund?

Apple generally expects refund requests within 90 days of the charge. Ask as soon as you notice it — requests on recent charges are approved more often.

Apple declined my request. Is that the end?

No. A first decline is common and is often automated. You can submit the request again with more specific facts and ask for review by a senior advisor. If it is declined again, you can dispute the charge with your card issuer.

Will I lose access to Anova Culinary if I cancel?

You keep access until the end of the period you already paid for. Canceling only stops the next renewal.

Anova Culinary is not listed in my Apple subscriptions, but I am still being charged. What now?

Then Apple is not the one charging you — the company is billing your card or PayPal directly, and reportaproblem.apple.com will not help. Check your card or PayPal statement for the merchant name, cancel from your account on that company website, and ask them for the refund in writing. If they do not answer within a few days, dispute the charge with your bank or card issuer instead.
