What goes wrong with Runway: AI Image & Video billing
We read the 148 recent 1–2★ reviews of Runway: AI Image & Video that mention money. These are the specific problems they describe (one review can describe more than one):
- Refund refused by the developer11
- Free trial turned into a paid charge4
- Charged a different amount or plan than expected4
- Paid, then core features stayed locked3
- Charged after canceling2
What this means for you: Many reviewers say Runway: AI Image & Video refused to refund them. If you paid through the App Store, the developer could not have refunded you anyway — only Apple can. Skip the developer's support and go straight to Apple (Step 2).
Step 1 — Stop the next charge
- On iPhone or iPad open Settings and tap your name at the very top.
- Tap Subscriptions, then Runway: AI Image & Video.
- Tap Cancel Subscription and confirm.
Deleting the app does not cancel the subscription. This is the single most common reason people keep getting charged.
Then check it actually worked
Look at the date line under the subscription. This one word tells you whether you are still being charged:
If it still says Renews, the cancellation did not go through — go back and do it again. Either way, a charge that already happened is refunded separately, in Step 2.
Step 2 — Ask Apple for the charge back
Answer these and you'll get the exact wording to paste into Apple's form. Nothing is sent anywhere — it's generated in your browser.
Free — the refund request to send Apple. No account, no email required.
$5.99 one time — the appeal letter for when Apple declines your first request, plus the chargeback letter for your card issuer if Apple still says no. Emailed to you. Not a subscription. Nothing renews. Full refund on request — see Refund Policy.
You're not the only one
Recent 1–2★ reviews of Runway: AI Image & Video on the App Store, about billing:
They didn’t say anything about limiting credits when I signed up for the PAID monthly subscription so I quickly hit that limit. Not worth it anyways because it messed up the color and didn’t follow directions
AI doesn’t follow outline parameters, and when you request a modification to correct the error it’s charged against your credit when the AI made the mistake ultimately costing you more money to use the service.
AI will request this as a plug in I imagine and you can ‘try it’ but later I saw where I was being charged $368.56. No where did I agree to this so now I’m going to have to deal with getting a refund and I don’t even have the app on my phone. I’m sure it’s probably a great application but it didn’t help for what I ‘tried’ it for. So just be careful.

Questions
Can I get a refund after I already canceled Runway: AI Image & Video?
Yes. Canceling stops future renewals but does not refund a charge that already went through. You request that separately at reportaproblem.apple.com, and "I was charged after I canceled the subscription" is the reason to select.
How long do I have to ask for a refund?
Apple generally expects refund requests within 90 days of the charge. Ask as soon as you notice it — requests on recent charges are approved more often.
Apple declined my request. Is that the end?
No. A first decline is common and is often automated. You can submit the request again with more specific facts and ask for review by a senior advisor. If it is declined again, you can dispute the charge with your card issuer.
Will I lose access to Runway: AI Image & Video if I cancel?
You keep access until the end of the period you already paid for. Canceling only stops the next renewal.
Runway: AI Image & Video is not listed in my Apple subscriptions, but I am still being charged. What now?
Then Apple is not the one charging you — the company is billing your card or PayPal directly, and reportaproblem.apple.com will not help. Check your card or PayPal statement for the merchant name, cancel from your account on that company website, and ask them for the refund in writing. If they do not answer within a few days, dispute the charge with your bank or card issuer instead.
