Based on 50 of the most recent public App Store reviews, sampled September 2026.

Step 1 — Stop the next charge

  1. On iPhone or iPad: Settings → tap your name → Subscriptions.
  2. Select RoomsterCancel Subscription.
  3. Check that it now says Expires and not Renews. If it still says Renews, it is not canceled.

Deleting the app does not cancel the subscription. This is the single most common reason people keep getting charged.

Step 2 — Ask Apple for the charge back

Answer these and you'll get the exact wording to paste into Apple's form. Nothing is sent anywhere — it's generated in your browser.

A detail only you could write makes the request read as yours rather than a form letter.

Recent 1–2★ reviews of Roomster on the App Store, about billing:

Do not pay for this app it’s a total waste of money. They have it set up so any random person that post that they’re looking for a room they send it into your messages to make it seem as if you have a direct You don’t know if someone is interested in your listing because they send any and everything to you to make it seem as if the app is popping but it’s really a waste of funds. A money grab a scam. Trust me. it…

I have been sent 41 messages and only three of them aren’t scamming or really sketchy. Also uses a pay wall to view messages and I paid as I was getting a lot of messages and they were messages from the app or from scams.

They charge subscription just to send and receive messages. You’ll find a listing, message them, then when “they” message back, it’ll prompt you to pay just to be able to read the message. Many listings are fake profiles used just for this purpose. Do your research and you’ll find this is a common experience. You’re welcome!

Questions

Can I get a refund after I already canceled Roomster?

Yes. Canceling stops future renewals but does not refund a charge that already went through. You request that separately at reportaproblem.apple.com, and "I was charged after I canceled the subscription" is the reason to select.

How long do I have to ask for a refund?

Apple generally expects refund requests within 90 days of the charge. Ask as soon as you notice it — requests on recent charges are approved more often.

Apple declined my request. Is that the end?

No. A first decline is common and is often automated. You can submit the request again with more specific facts and ask for review by a senior advisor. If it is declined again, you can dispute the charge with your card issuer.

Will I lose access to Roomster if I cancel?

You keep access until the end of the period you already paid for. Canceling only stops the next renewal.
